Canoë Interprétation Inc. is a Canadian company that develops and operates a real-time language interpretation application powered by artificial intelligence. Our solution is primarily designed for public and private institutions, including those in the healthcare, public administration, and event sectors.

2. Information We Collect

When using our application, we collect certain personal information necessary for the operation of the service.

2.1 Account Information

• Email address (provided during registration or login)
• Name (if provided)
• Language and voice preferences

2.2 Technical Information

• IP address, browser type, and device information (collected via our authentication provider, Clerk)
• Cookies for session management and authentication

2.3 Usage Information

• Session start and end times
• Session duration and minutes consumed
• Subscription status and billing history

2.4 Audio Data Handling (No Persistent Storage)

We do not archive your conversations.

• Real-Time Processing: All audio content and transcriptions are processed in real-time.
• Transient Buffering: Audio data is held briefly in volatile memory (RAM) solely to facilitate immediate transmission or instant translation. It is never written to a hard drive or database.
• Immediate Deletion: Once the data is processed or the session ends, it is instantly discarded from our servers.

3. Purpose of Data Collection

The data we collect is used solely to:

• Authenticate users securely
• Provide a personalized experience based on your language preferences
• Track usage for billing purposes
• Ensure technical stability
• Comply with legal and regulatory requirements

We do not use your data for profiling, marketing, or commercial resale.

4. Third-Party Service Providers

To deliver our services securely, we work with trusted third-party providers.

4.1 OpenAI Data Processing

Audio is transmitted to OpenAI via their secure API.

• No Model Training: OpenAI does not use your data to train their models.
• Abuse Monitoring: Currently, OpenAI may retain API data for up to 30 days solely to identify abuse or misuse, after which it is deleted. (Note: We are currently in the process of securing a Zero Data Retention (ZDR) agreement to eliminate this retention window).

5. Cookies and Local Storage

We use essential cookies for authentication (Clerk) and local browser storage for your interface preferences (language settings, noise reduction). You can manage these settings via your browser.

7. Data Security

8. Your Rights (Law 25)

In accordance with Quebec's Law 25 and Canadian privacy laws, you have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data. To exercise these rights, contact our Privacy Officer (details below).

9. International Data Transfers

Some providers (e.g., OpenAI) process data in the United States. We ensure these transfers comply with Quebec's Law 25 requirements through adequate contractual safeguards.
